Whats The Advantages Of Renewable Energy?

on Friday, March 5, 2010

So many people would like to know what the common advantages of renewable energy are? The-Alternate-Enegery-Sources.com is a very informative site that teaches the public many intresting fact about renewable energy sources. When using energy from sources that are easily replaced, you are using renewable energy. Examples are the use of sunshine, wind, flowing water, biological- and geothermal processes. They are often described as clean and green forms of energy because of their minimal environmental impact compared to fossil fuels. One advantage of renewable energy therefore is the more sustainable use of finite sources of energy. Other great advantages of renewable energy is it has NO contribution to global warming, NO polluting emissions, low cost applications when counting all costs, and saving on health and its cost. If there are all these advantages to using renewable energy then why do we tend to stick with non-renewable energy sources?

I like your argument at the end but in the present, the machines we use to harvest the renewable energy sources are not efficient enough. We are not able to make use of most of the energy like we are able to with fossil fuels. Also, even though the renewable energy may be cheap, it is even cheaper to use fossil fuels at the moment. Until it is more efficient for us to use renewable energy, we will keep our fossil fuel. I do have a problem with the part about global warming. It is a cycle. The pollution is our fault but global warming, however, is not.

I agree, Global Warming can be attributed to natural global climate change, to a degree. We can't ignore the fact that climate change is inevitable, how would we explain ice ages, but we are also helping it progress more quickly than it should. We stick with non-renewable energy sources because they are easy to obtain and cheaper. More focus should be put on finding ways to make these clean energies accessable to the average person.

I agree with you 100%. If we continue to use fossil fuels, we are destined for disaster. By using non-renewable resources, we are further polluting the environment that we live in and speeding up the process of global warming. With fast rate that global warming is progressing, there could not be a better time to transition to the use of renewable energy sources. Fossil fuels are becoming more and more difficult to extract, and we have to rely on other nations’ land to obtain the large amounts of these non-renewable resources that is necessary for the United States to function. By switching to renewable energy, the United States will have to opportunity to become a more independent nation.
