One of the major types of alternative energy sources is wind power, but what exactly is wind power? The National Renewable Energy Lab site gives us the answer to this question, as well as answers to may others. Wind is a clean energy resource that can generate enough electricity to power millions of places. Wind energy is one of the FASTEST-GROWING forms of electricity generatoin in the world, and the US currently can generate more than 25,000 megawatts of electricity from wind. With proper development experts believe that wind energy could provide over 20% of the nations energy needs.

The wind energy system transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical energy that can be harnessed for practicle use. Wind electric turbines generate electricity for homes and businesses and for sale to utilities. The main arguement against wind power is the vast amount to land required to have a wind plant. People argue that it hurts the environment when we install these huge wind towers. However, I feel that the effect to the environment due to production of wind power is minimal.

This is intersting, but I still have a lot of questions that weren't answered in your blog. How do you harness this power? Is it cheaper than the electricity we purchase from power plants? Is it the same quality? Is it dependable? Wouldn't people who work at power plants lose their jobs? How much labor does it require? I would think not much. Wouldn't the lack of job opportunities + firing everyone from power plants make our economy worse?
